Clinical Services

Penikese provides comprehensive services which include individual and group counseling by licensed clinicians, family support and intervention, substance abuse treatment, and if needed, psychiatric consultation. Penikese staff are professionally trained and supervised to take team approaches to individual student needs.

Penikese is currently the only adolescent program anywhere offering the Communication Program, a proven group method helping participants to improve interpersonal skills and quality of their relationships, reduce the motivating factors behind acting out behavior.

Penikese also offers biofeedback for the brain, a particularly effective treatment for ADHD and those related disorders that often contribute to acting out behaviors. In the same way that biofeedback helps to reduce anxiety by teaching people to regulate their blood pressure, respiration, heart rate, neurofeedback trains the brain to attend, focus, and shift from one level of attention or arousal to another, decreasing symptoms and often lessening the need for medication.
