Programs & Services

Thank you for considering the Penikese Island School. Established in 1973 to be a non-institutional, one-boy-at-a-time alternative treatment program, Penikese remains a small program dedicated to promoting lasting internal change over temporary conformity, and finding what works for each boy and adapt Penikese to meet his needs, rather than trying to change each boy to fit Penikese. Penikese’s island location promotes the formation of authentic, interdependent and work-intensive community mirroring the social expectations of the real world.

Although still small and true to its founding philosophy in many other ways, Penikese has grown and changed over the years, now offering a thorough and integrated program that includes clinical, educational, vocational and life skill components on the island and graduate Aftercare and community services in the community at-large.

Detailed descriptions of these elements are included in the documents provided below. To learn more about Penikese and make a referral, you can contact Pam Brighton, Clinical Director, at 508.548.7276, x 205 or .
