What the Penikese Island School Can Do For You. And What We Can’t.
Let’s start with what Penikese is not.
- We’re not a boot camp.
- We’re not a juvenile detention center.
- We’re not a “touchy-feely” treatment program.
- We’re definitely not a vacation resort.
What we are is a chance for you to have a say in what your future will be and in what direction you will go in life. For some, it is the last such chance. But for those who will succeed, it is a first step. Are you ready for that?
It’s not easy.
The time you spend with us on Penikese Island won’t be easy. You’ll be asked to work hard, both in the classroom and outside of it. You’ll be without many of the comforts and luxuries you have come to expect. No TV. No radio. No video games. No distractions.
But the reward for your hard work is a sense of accomplishment, success and confidence that will serve you well for the rest of your life. And an opportunity for a fresh start – if you are willing to take advantage of it.
We have stories to tell.
Over the years we have had hundreds of young men come to Penikese Island to live and learn with us. Not all of them make a successful transition. But for those who do, a whole new world opens up.
