Penikese is opening a cutting edge treatment program that will set the standard for addiction treatment. The clinical program is a collaboration with McLean Hospital, the renowned mental health facility affiliated with Harvard Medical School.
The Centers for Disease Control reported that more than half a million people died in the United States from a drug overdose in the last five years. Successful treatment for substance use disorders is rare. We desperately need something different.
The Penikese treatment approach will use evidence based therapeutic techniques and a unique long-term connection to the program. This approach has already shown a high rate of success in employee assistance programs for airline pilots and physicians, resulting in sobriety rates of greater than 75% — as opposed to less than 25% for conventional treatment programs. Penikese will adapt the key concepts from these programs to make treatment relevant to the general population. One of the major components of this treatment approach is connection to a sober community. We will remain connected to our young men for years — rather than days or months — providing them with a safe, sober anchorage as they navigate a new healthy lifestyle.
This program will open in the spring of 2018. But we need your help.
Penikese has helped troubled young men turn their lives around for almost a half century. With your support, Penikese can continue to provide an “island of healing” for a new generation of young men. Please join us as we begin the next phase of Penikese and help us forge an effective solution to the alarming opioid crisis.
To open the Penikese Program, we are asking you, and especially those who have been touched by this crisis, to contribute to our initial goal of $500,000 in donations and pledges. Please be part of this vital effort.
Thank you for your interest and support.
