Join us for a unique birding adventure on Penikese Island, a remote wildlife sanctuary at the mouth of Buzzards Bay. In collaboration with BiodiversityWorks and Manomet, each trip features an expert guide to help you spot and identify the diverse bird species that call this island home.

Your journey begins with a scenic one-hour boat ride from Woods Hole along the Elizabeth Islands. Upon arrival, you’ll explore Penikese’s rugged, unspoiled landscape, rich with nesting seabirds, shorebirds, and migratory species.

 

Trip Details:

  • Skill Level: Enthusiastic birders of all experience levels welcome!
  • Group Size: Maximum of 12 participants. A minimum of 8 participants is required for the trip to proceed.
  • Meeting Point & Parking: Penikese Shore Office, 565 Woods Hole Road, Woods Hole, MA.
  • Essentials to Bring:
    • Binoculars
    • Picnic lunch, snacks, and plenty of water
    • Sturdy walking shoes for uneven terrain
    • Weather-appropriate layers (it’s often cooler offshore)
    • Hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen (there is limited shade on the island)
