Step aboard for a scenic one-hour boat ride from Woods Hole to Penikese Island, a remote wildlife sanctuary at the mouth of Buzzards Bay. Explore the island’s diverse ecosystems, rich history, and rugged beauty on a guided tour featuring 1-2 miles of walking trails through unspoiled coastal landscapes.

 

Trip Details:

  • Skill Level: Open to all nature and history enthusiasts! Please note: the walking trails on Penikese involve lumpy and uneven terrain.
  • Group Size: Maximum of 12 participants. A minimum of 8 participants is required for the trip to proceed.
  • Meeting Point & Parking: Penikese Shore Office, 565 Woods Hole Road, Woods Hole, MA.
  • Essentials to Bring:
    • Picnic lunch, snacks, and plenty of water
    • Sturdy walking shoes for uneven terrain
    • Weather-appropriate layers (it’s often cooler offshore)
    • Hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen (there is limited shade on the island)
