Registration for Background Checks

Mandated CORI and SORI

All those interacting with students on Penikese are subject to background checks pursuant to regulations of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (M.G.L. c. 6 §172G). The purpose of these checks is to ensure there is nothing that would render an individual unfit to perform services involving contact and/or access to students.

Upon submission of this registration, Penikese will provide your name and email to our agent who will contact you directly to proceed with the two required checks:

• Crimimal Offender Record Information (CORI)

• Sex Offender Registry Information (SORI)

Our agent is a highly secure national service in compliance with federal and regional regulations and privacy standards. You will be asked to provide your Social Security Number, date of birth, addresses history, and other relevant information.

The Penikese Island School acknowledges that we are gathering on the unceded ancestral land of the Wôpanâak (Wampanoag) Nation.  We recognize and respect the Wampanoag people and honor their enduring relationship with this land.  This Land Acknowledgment is an intentional act to counter the erasure of Indigenous people and to demonstrate respect for their sovereign rights.  We are committed to educating our staff and students about the longstanding history of the Wampanoag people.
